EHEIM Prefilter - 4004

EHEIM Prefilter – Advanced Coarse‑Particle Capture for Longer Filter Life

The EHEIM Prefilter is an essential accessory for any EHEIM external filtration system. By intercepting larger debris before it reaches the main canister, it protects the primary filter media, prolongs biological breakdown, and significantly extends service intervals. Its low‑profile base rests firmly on the aquarium bottom, while water is drawn in through the gravel via the detachable Easy‑Klick filter baskets, ensuring a gentle, all‑round flow that is safe for both fish and plants.

Installation is straightforward: replace the standard intake pipe with the telescopic pipe supplied, position the prefilter, and load the two modular filter baskets with the appropriate cartridges. When cleaning is required, simply lift the baskets, rinse or replace the media, and snap them back into place.

Care & Maintenance Tips

• Inspect and clean the filter baskets every 2–4 weeks, or sooner if water appears cloudy.
• Rinse baskets and cartridges with aquarium‑conditioned water; avoid using tap water that may contain chlorine.
• Replace filter cartridges according to the manufacturer’s schedule or when flow rate drops.
• Check the telescopic pipe for any cracks or wear before each cleaning cycle.
• Ensure the prefilter remains level on the substrate to maintain even suction.
