EHEIM pickup 45 Internal Filter – Compact Power and Easy Maintenance
The EHEIM pickup 45 delivers reliable filtration for small freshwater aquariums up to 45 L. Its innovative design places the pump permanently in the tank while the filter canister and cartridge lift out from above, making routine cleaning a breeze. Water is drawn from the bottom, filtered, and returned through a rotatable outlet nozzle, allowing you to direct flow exactly where it’s needed.
Out‑of‑the‑box you receive a ready‑to‑use cartridge, and the unit also accepts activated carbon cartridges for extra clarity during tank start‑ups or after medication treatments. With a modest 3.5 W power draw and a quiet synchron‑motor, the pickup 45 ensures steady circulation without disturbing your aquatic inhabitants.

- Plug the unit into a standard 220‑V outlet; the synchron‑motor will start automatically.
- Monitor flow and adjust the built‑in slider on the filter lid if a lower circulation rate is needed.
Care & Maintenance Tips
- Clean the filter cartridge every 6–8 weeks or when flow noticeably declines.
- Rinse filter media with lukewarm aquarium water; replace filter fleece after each cleaning.
- Check suction cups and inlet openings for debris and clean with a soft brush.
- Use activated carbon cartridges during tank start‑up or after medication to improve water clarity.
- Keep the pump head just below the water surface and maintain a hand‑width gap between the bottom filter media and the substrate to avoid sucking up sand.
- Inspect the rotatable nozzle periodically to ensure free movement and proper sealing.
